What an LGR Dehumidifier Rental Does
An LGR dehumidifier rental puts a professional-grade, low-grain refrigerant unit on your drying job — a machine that pre-cools incoming air so it condenses moisture the standard refrigerant units leave behind. That lets an LGR pull air down to a much lower grains-per-pound reading, which is what actually dries wet framing, drywall, and subfloor. For most water-damage losses in normal 70–90°F conditions, an LGR is the correct, cost-effective tool.
We rent LGR dehumidifiers rated by pints per day (PPD) and pair them with air movers to complete the drying chamber. When the air gets cold, the space is very large, or you need to reach the lowest possible dew point, we step you up to a trailer-mounted desiccant dehumidifier instead. Not sure which you need? Our IICRC-based calculator gives an instant recommendation.
Dehumidifier sizes we rent: 25, 50, 70, 120 & 150 GPD/pints
We rent restoration dehumidifiers from about 64 to 165 AHAM pints per day, plus desiccant units sized by CFM. Rental listings label the same machines two ways, so check which unit a number means before you book:
- Pints per day (PPD) — the AHAM rating at 80°F / 60% RH. “70 pint” or “120 pint” almost always means this.
- Gallons per day (GPD) — usually the saturation rating (90°F / 90% RH) divided by 8 pints per gallon. A “25 GPD” rental is a unit that pulls about 200 pints at saturation.
| Size you searched | What it means | Models in our catalog | Typical job |
|---|---|---|---|
| 18 GPD | About 140–150 pints/day at saturation | Dri-Eaz Revolution LGR (80 / 139) · XPOWER XD-85L2 LGR (85 / 145) · B-Air Vantage VG-1500 (76 / 150) | One to three wet rooms, tight spaces |
| 25 GPD (refrigerant) | About 190–240 pints/day at saturation | Abestorm Hurricane 900 (90 / 190) · Dri-Eaz LGR 7000XLi (130 / 235) · Phoenix 200 MAX LGR (133 / 240) | Whole-floor residential losses, small commercial suites |
| 50 pint (“50 GPD”) | Household-class capacity | We step up to a restoration unit: Dri-Eaz DrizAir 1200 (64 / 132) | Single room, light dampness, humidity control |
| 70 pint (often listed as “70 GPD”) | About 70–76 AHAM pints/day | Dri-Eaz Evolution LGR (70) · Phoenix R150 LGR (75) · XPOWER XD-125 (76) · B-Air VG-1500 (76) | Bathrooms, kitchens, single-room water damage |
| 120 pint (LGR) | About 125–133 AHAM pints/day | Phoenix R200 LGR (125) · AlorAir Storm SLGR 1250X (125) · AlorAir Storm Elite (125) · Dri-Eaz LGR 7000XLi (130) · Phoenix 200 MAX (133) | Basements, multi-room and Class 3 losses |
| 150 pint (often listed as “150 GPD”) | 165 AHAM / 280 pints/day saturation | XPOWER XD-165L LGR (476 CFM airflow) | Large open areas, light commercial |
| Bigger than 150 | Sized by airflow, not pints | Trailer-mounted 5,000 CFM desiccant (158 lbs/hr) | Warehouses, schools, high-rises — see commercial dehumidifier rental |
Model availability varies by date and region; we confirm the exact unit and rating when you book. Full specs for every model are on our inventory page.
What size dehumidifier do I need for water damage?
Divide the room’s cubic feet by the IICRC class factor to get the AHAM pints per day you need, then divide by one unit’s rating. For LGR units the IICRC S500 factors are 100 (Class 1), 50 (Class 2) and 40 (Class 3); for conventional refrigerant units they are 100, 40 and 30.
- Measure the chamber: length × width × ceiling height = cubic feet.
- Pick the class of water: Class 1 is minimal wetting, Class 2 is carpet and walls wet up to about 24 inches, Class 3 is saturated ceilings, walls and insulation.
- Divide by the factor to get total pints per day, then divide by the unit rating and round up.
| Space | Volume | Class | Pints/day needed | Units |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bedroom 15 × 12 × 8 ft | 1,440 cu ft | 2 (÷ 50) | about 29 | One 70-pint LGR |
| Kitchen + family room 30 × 20 × 8 ft | 4,800 cu ft | 2 (÷ 50) | 96 | One 120-pint LGR |
| Finished basement 1,000 sq ft × 8 ft | 8,000 cu ft | 3 (÷ 40) | 200 | Two 120-pint LGRs |
| Office floor 10,000 sq ft × 10 ft | 100,000 cu ft | 2 (÷ 50) | 2,000 | About 16 LGRs — or one 5,000 CFM desiccant |
Pair dehumidifiers with air movers — air movers lift water off surfaces, dehumidifiers take it out of the air. Get an instant number from our dehumidifier sizing calculator, or build the whole package (dehumidifiers, air movers, scrubbers) on the water damage equipment rental page.

When to Rent LGR vs. Desiccant
LGR handles the majority of jobs. Here's the line where a desiccant takes over.
Rent LGR When…
The space is a normal occupied or finished interior, temperatures are 70–90°F, and you need cost-effective structural drying with a footprint that fits through a door.
Step Up to Desiccant When…
Air is cold or dry, the loss is very large, or you're drying hardwood and need the lowest dew point. See desiccant rentals →

LGR Rental FAQ
What is an LGR dehumidifier?
LGR stands for low-grain refrigerant. The unit pre-cools incoming air before it hits the cold coil, so it condenses moisture that a standard refrigerant dehumidifier would miss and reaches a much lower grains-per-pound reading. That deeper drying is what actually pulls water out of framing, drywall, and subfloor.
LGR vs. desiccant — which should I rent?
Rent an LGR for normal 70–90°F occupied and finished interiors — it's the cost-effective workhorse for most water-damage jobs. Step up to a desiccant when the air is cold or dry, the loss is very large, or you're drying hardwood and need the lowest possible dew point.
How many dehumidifiers do I need?
It depends on the cubic footage of the drying chamber, the class of water, and the moisture load. Our IICRC-based calculator gives an instant estimate, and our team confirms it from your psychrometric readings before delivery.
Do you deliver LGR dehumidifiers same-day?
Yes. We pre-stage units across New Jersey (all 21 counties), New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Florida, with 24/7 dispatch and often same-day delivery for emergencies. See your service area →
What power does an LGR dehumidifier need?
Most portable LGR units run on standard 115V site power, which is why they're the go-to for occupied buildings. If the site has no power, we pair them with a generator rental.
Is there dehumidifier rental near me?
If you’re in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina or Florida, yes. Restoration Equipment Supply delivers from Piscataway, NJ with 24/7 dispatch and same-day delivery for emergencies. Find your service area →
How do I rent a dehumidifier?
Call (973) 685-4030 or request a quote with the room size, what got wet and the delivery address. We match the unit size, confirm it with you, deliver it, and pick it up when the job is dry.
What dehumidifiers do you have for rent?
Restoration-grade LGR and refrigerant dehumidifiers from Dri-Eaz, Phoenix, AlorAir, XPOWER, B-Air and Abestorm (about 64–165 AHAM pints per day), portable desiccants from Phoenix, Munters and Ebac, and a trailer-mounted 5,000 CFM desiccant. See the size chart.
Do you offer portable dehumidifier rentals?
Yes. Every LGR we rent is portable: most weigh 63–131 lbs, roll on wheels or handles, and run on a standard 115V outlet. Compact units such as the Dri-Eaz Revolution LGR (65 lbs) fit in crawlspaces and closets.
Can I rent a dehumidifier for mold?
Yes. The EPA advises keeping indoor humidity below 60% (ideally 30–50%) and drying wet materials within 24–48 hours to prevent mold. A dehumidifier controls moisture; active mold growth also needs containment and HEPA filtration — see mold remediation equipment rental.
Is dehumidifier hire the same as dehumidifier rental?
Yes — “hire” is the UK and Australian word for rental. We rent (hire) dehumidifiers by the day, week or month in the US East Coast states we serve.
How much does it cost to rent an LGR dehumidifier?
Cost depends on unit capacity, rental length, and delivery distance, with weekly and monthly rates lower per day than daily. Contact us for a free, no-obligation quote.
