What an Air Scrubber Rental Does
An air scrubber rental gives you a portable, multi-stage HEPA filtration unit that continuously pulls contaminated air through a filter train and returns clean air to the space. A true HEPA final filter captures 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns — the mold spores, drywall and demolition dust, fine debris, and airborne particulate that a restoration or remediation job kicks up. Running scrubbers keeps the work area cleaner, protects occupants and crews, and helps you hit clearance.
The same machine also drives air changes per hour (ACH) inside a containment, and when you duct its exhaust outside it becomes a negative air machine. For tight or mobile spots, grab a portable air scrubber. On a wet loss, run scrubbers alongside our desiccant dehumidifiers to clean and dry the structure at once. Not sure how many you need? Our team sizes it from your room volume — or start with the equipment calculator.
Multi-Stage HEPA Filtration
Pre-filter, secondary, and true-HEPA stages scrub the air continuously — stackable units you can scale up to hit the air changes your containment needs.
- True HEPA final filter captures mold spores, dust, and fine particulate to 0.3 microns
- Multi-stage pre-filters extend HEPA life on dusty demolition jobs
- Stackable and daisy-chainable to reach target air changes per hour
- Duct the exhaust outside to create negative pressure in containment
How Many Scrubbers Do You Need?
Air scrubbers are sized by air changes per hour (ACH) — here's the quick math.
Find the Room Volume
Length × width × ceiling height gives cubic feet of the contained space you need to keep clean.
Set Your Target ACH
Remediation work commonly targets 4–6 air changes per hour or more. Multiply room volume by target ACH, then divide by 60 to get the CFM you must move.
Match Scrubber CFM
Divide that required CFM by each unit's filtered CFM to get your scrubber count. Start with the calculator and we'll confirm.

Air Scrubber Rental FAQ
What does an air scrubber do?
An air scrubber continuously pulls air through a multi-stage filter train ending in a true HEPA filter, capturing 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns — mold spores, dust, and fine debris — and returns clean air to the space. It keeps a restoration or remediation area cleaner and helps protect occupants and crews.
Air scrubber vs. negative air machine — what's the difference?
They're often the same HEPA machine used two ways. Run it with the exhaust returning into the room and it "scrubs" the air. Duct the exhaust outside the containment and it creates negative pressure, becoming a negative air machine that keeps contaminants from escaping.
How many air scrubbers do I need?
Size by air changes per hour: multiply room volume by your target ACH (often 4–6+ for remediation), divide by 60 to get required CFM, then divide by each unit's filtered CFM. Our calculator and team confirm the count.
Does an air scrubber remove mold?
A HEPA air scrubber captures airborne mold spores and particulate to keep the work area cleaner and support clearance, but it does not replace source removal. Effective mold remediation combines scrubbing and negative-air containment with physically removing the mold.
Do you deliver air scrubbers same-day?
Yes. We stage HEPA scrubbers with fresh filters across New Jersey (all 21 counties), New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Florida, with 24/7 dispatch. See your service area →
How much does it cost to rent an air scrubber?
Cost depends on how many units, rental length, and delivery distance, with lower weekly and monthly per-day rates. Contact us for a free, no-obligation quote.
Drying plans and equipment counts follow the IICRC S500 Standard for Professional Water Damage Restoration, and containment and air filtration follow IICRC S520 and the EPA mold guidance. Restoration Equipment Supply is an IICRC Certified Firm.
